WEDDINGS PRIVATE FUNCTIONS

The early days:

I have loved performing from an early age. I used to build little stages at home and do mini concerts. I was always quite a shy young man so nothing ever came of it.

I got into my current profession in my early 20's when I started to promote club nights in Southampton. Among many was an underground house night called SNAFU and a Latin/Spanish night called DelaLuz. Both were very popular and attracted allot of interest. I used to design the flyers organise the DJ's promote in all weather and run the event. The best bit was I made money from it!

I also worked in lots of bars and clubs so had regular contact with DJ's such as Mal Williams from Kaos nightclub who also was and still is a mobile DJ. I used to be amazed that he was paid good money to do such a fantastic job!

My first gig!

I personally started DJing on a New Years Eve of all things! I had a party I was organising for My Latin/Spanish friends and my DJ was ill. I basically had to go out the night before, buy some decks and start burning some cd's! Dropped in the deep end is an understatement.

I have never been a bedroom DJ and hardly ever DJ at home (to the joy of my girlfriend). I think this is why I am not scared of trying something new when performing and I push the boundary of the stereotypical Mobile DJ.

I started DJing regularly when I set up an international student party in Que Pasa (Southampton) every Thursday. It was a fantastically popular night and I found myself entertaining 400 people at a time!

Becoming a mobile DJ:

My first mobile gig was for an 18th in Hythe (where I live). A DJ friend recommended me and I then went out and bought myself a sound system & lights. That went really well and I only charged them £100. On hindsight I was worth more than that LOL. I Then started going to wedding fairs and advertising and before too long I started to do weddings, corporate events, birthdays you name it.

Since then it has just got busier and I am currently Djing 3-4 times a week and am booked up to a year in advance!! I am not sure how many gigs I have played at but it's allot. I have travelled all over the South coast and have played in all manner of venues for lots of different events.

All I can say is that this is my dream job and I am very lucky!
